Riser Spotlight
We recently chatted with Risers from teams across our organization to find out more about their personal experiences at Rise. Learn what members of our account management, SEO, innovation, and customer experience teams shared about their roles at Rise and their biggest motivators.
Q. What do you do in your current role?
“As an internet marketing consultant on the SEO team, I develop strategies that help our clients meet and exceed their organic web traffic and conversion goals. From landing page optimization and keyword research to site architecture and sitemap creation—it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm working on something different each day.” – Marissa
“I am a software data engineer on the innovation team. In short, I am backend developer and I help with boarding data to any platform.” – Kamilia
“I'm an account executive for Atkins, and my motto is ‘If the client ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!’ My role involves a lot of internal and external communication, and I also get the chance to work on strategy with the channel teams. There's never a dull moment.” – Joel
“As a senior software engineer on the customer experience team, I work with a team of developers to create web applications and websites, both client-side and server-side, including content management systems for clients that would like to maintain or change the content of their websites.” – Adam
Q. What is your favorite part of working at Rise?
“The ability to work with different exciting technologies. Since joining Rise, I’ve been able to learn Python, Spark Streaming, and Kafka, among other skills, and work on different cloud systems. Gaining these technical skills is very exciting for every developer to be able to add these cool technologies to his/her bag. ” – Kamilia
“Definitely the people and the atmosphere. Risers are lively and a lot of fun. We're dedicated to our roles and to Rise as a company, but also to each other. The atmosphere here contributes to the friendly nature of the staff by creating a very positive workspace for us. We work hard to make sure that our feedback to one another is very professional and constructive. It makes me feel great to know that my expertise is recognized, and I definitely recognize the skills of my amazing colleagues.” – Adam
“I enjoy working in a structured work environment that still has the feel of a startup. Everyone's moving at a fast pace, knowing that the effort they put in actually does help move the company forward. There's a real team mentality, and it's exciting.”– Joel
“The people! No kidding, everyone is so great to work with at Rise. As cheesy as it sounds, I can always count on my fellow Risers to support, encourage, and motivate me each day.” –Marissa
Q. What’s your team like and what do you like most about it?
“Not to brag or anything, but my team is the greatest! I'd say we are the epitome of ‘work hard, play hard.’ Whether we have a tight project deadline, a team lunch, or trivia at a Rise happy hour, I love how we always find a way to have a great time together. So, if you're about the quiet cubicle life, you'd probably get tired of sitting with us pretty quickly (haha).” – Marissa
“I work on an ever-expanding team of really skilled developers, copywriters, designers, artists, and more. I love that we all have a wide variety of experience and bring our skills to the table to address a multitude of scenarios. Many of us have never worked with such an array of people and it's awesome to be able to see every part of a project as it progresses through each stage. What makes things even better is that there's constant laughter and the freedom to be absolutely who you are as an individual. It's great to work with awesome people, but even better when we all have a great sense of humor!” – Adam
“I love my team! We all have pretty similar personalities: self-motivated, but we’re team players (like honey badgers); reserved, but we prefer direct feedback; and hardworking, but we're not afraid to hit up a random karaoke bar in Chinatown at four o’clock in the afternoon.” – Joel
“I like the dynamic of my team. Also, our ability to work well and complete tasks in a short amount of time is awesome.” – Kamilia
Q: What motivates you?
“I've always been motivated to expand my skill sets. After graduating last May, I originally saw myself moving in a more creative direction, like advertising/content-creation type work. But I saw a lot of value in learning a data-driven approach to marketing. It's the direction everything's moving, and there's no better place to learn those skills than at Rise. I definitely made the right choice.” – Joel
“Seeing how clients are satisfied with our work is the best motivation for me.” – Kamilia
“Have you ever had a moment when you look back at something you've accomplished and thought to yourself, ‘Wow, I can't believe I did that?’ At Rise, I get to experience those moments all the time. To me, there's nothing more fulfilling than completing a challenging project and making a positive impact for our clients. That feeling is what energizes and motivates me the most day to day.” – Marissa
